INDY LIGHTS PRESENTED BY COOPER TIRES
FREEDOM 100
QUALIFYING REPORT
05.25.17

On a damp and dreary day from the Brickyard, rain forced a shortened practice session before Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Freedom 100 qualifying could commence. After a window opened up to allow Indianapolis Motor Speedway to dry, the field is now set for tomorrow's 40-lap event.
Coverage of tomorrow's Freedom 100 from the famed 2.5-mile oval at Indianapolis Motor Speedway begins live at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

“Qualifying is the most fun as a driver here because we’re going the quickest. It'sawesome! It’s the most trimmed out we are, and the most exciting. I’m happy with second. I had a little incident coming out of the pits, doing a little half spin coming on to the track. I think it cost me quite a bit of time, so I’m really happy with P2. Qualifying isn’t super important here because you can race from anywhere you start. I’m happy, the car is fast and really good in traffic, so we’ll see what we can dotomorrow.”

“It was great result by the team. Having three cars in the top four shows the excellence of work the guys have been doing leading up to this race. The superspeedway is just as much about the team’s preparation as what we’re doing on track. A big thank you goes to Andretti Autosport. We had a great car and I’m very confident we’ll be competitive for the win tomorrow. We were getting a little worried about the drizzle on pit lane during qualifying, as we would have had to start in 12th if we were rained out. Last year, we were able to go from 14th to third, so you can race here but I wanted to make it a little easier on myself this year.”

“This place is amazing. I absolutely love this place, and this is definitely my favorite track so far. We have a great car and I think it’s a winning car. Qualifying went well today and I gave it everything I had. We used every inch of the track we could leaving little room to spare. We just have to time it right in the race tomorrow, keep the tires under me and we should we good. I can’t wait!”

“Overall, it was a tough qualifying session. We had some engine issues when testingMonday, so we had it changed before today. We’re not starting where I’d like to start, but we’ll see what we can dotomorrow. It’s a long race and I love drafting, so I’ll do what I can to work my way up there.”
